Magnetic separators are effective in any sector which has risk of ferrous particle ingress. Safety critical processes such as food, pharmaceuticals and chemicals use both primary and secondary separators to protect powders, granulates and liquids. Typical examples being flour, starch, sugar, chocolate, tea and cereal.
Dry Separation at Finer Sizes
When a minus 325 mesh fraction is tested, a separation sometimes occurs, but in most cases the feed passes through without separation. Response at higher frequencies was investigated with a smaller ¾ inch cross section U shaped magnet core 1 . Separation was performed with a nonmagnetic nonconducting plane surface 3 moved manually across the magnet pole as illustrated by the direction arrow 4. When separation occurred, the nonmagnetic mineral 5 would move with the plane, and the magn...

Application of alternating and intermittent current to magnetic separation at a relatively high number of ampere turns was made possible by special electronic circuits. Actual power losses are low and include the I²R loss, which is the same that occurs in direct current magnetic separation, and the core loss, which has a magnitude corresponding to the I²R loss. Minerals may be dry separated close to the minus 325 mesh size at 60 hertz frequency and possibly at smaller particle sizes at higher frequency. In the wet separation of minus 325 mesh feeds, intermittent current provides for complete release of the magnetic fraction during the discharge cycle. For matted fibrous and magnetically coagulating feeds, a cross belt separator with an intermittent magnetizing current provides efficient separations.
Induction type high magnetic force separator KID R For removal of weak magnetic bulk materials. 2.6 T max. Cross belt type high magnetic force separator KID B Small capacity and less mixture of raw materials in removed iron.
The magnetic field of a Magnetic Separator is produced using either a Permanent or Electro Magnet. Permanent Magnetic Separation equipement uses magnet materials such as Neodymium, Samarium Cobalt and Ceramic Ferrite to generate magnetic fields. Selection of the magnet material for a specific application is dictated by the magnetic material ...
Samarium Cobalt Magnet Features. Samarium Cobalt magnets are powerful rare earth magnets composed of samarium and cobalt. They are commonly used in high performance motors, magnetic couplings and magnetic separators. These are brittle magnets and are prone to cracking and chipping. Samarium magnets can be used for high temperature ...
The rougher magnetic slurries were pumped through a high frequency, high intensity demagnetizing coil before cleaning with the drum separator. Cleaned magnetic concentrates contained up to 58 pct Fe and as little as 1.8 pct Cr and 4.7 pct SiO2; however, alumina and magnesia were high.
