Sitecore 9.1 was finally released. Although everyone expected to have at least of technical preview of new UX experience “Horizon”, it is not included. But, still, there are couple features to be explored.
The first updated and improved experience include installation process. In comparison with previous Sitecore versions, few improvements were added to setup Sitecore with less effort.
- Documentation now exists in two variants – lightweight “Quick Installation Guide” and fullweight “Installation Guide”. Want to install development environment as quick as possible? Just use “Quick Installation Guide” describing all-in-one developer installation (XP0). It has just 13 pages
- Annoyed by manual installation of all prerequisites like .NET Core, SQL client libraries, .NET frameworks? Now everything except of Mongo, SOLR, MS SQL and Machine Learning Server can be installed automatically by one Powershell call. And it really works.
- Annoyed by preparing installation script and patching by JSON files to provide setup values? Now, new “all-in-one” installation script and JSON files are provided. In just one file you can customise setup (instance names, passwords) and by executing of second file you will setup everything. XP0-SingleDeveloper.ps1 is the magic word.
